Our Location |
Homewood Church is located on the southeast corner of Governors Highway and 183rd Street in Homewood, Illinois. Our facility is approximately 10 miles south of Chicago’s city limits, 25 miles from downtown Chicago, and 10 miles west of the Indiana state line. The Metra train line allows access from Homewood to Chicago in an average of 35 minutes.
The intersection on which we are located has been identified by the South Suburban Planning Commission as “highly strategic”, and 183rd Street is receiving significant improvement grants because of its role in connecting Halsted Street with the Orland Park shopping region. |
We
are directly across from a major strip mall featuring Walgreen’s,
Starbucks Coffee, |
We are also diagonally across from Dolphin Lake Pool, one of two community pools in the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District. Less than one mile to our south is Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School, and one quarter mile to our west is the Homewood-Flossmoor Heath and Fitness Complex, a major recreational center for our community.

Our Property |
Our facility is located on approximately six acres of property, with a parking lot capable of accommodating 165 cars with entrances from both 183rd Street and Governors Highway. We are currently capable of adding an additional 40 spaces to our parking lot and 15,000 square feet to our existing facility without receiving a zoning variance from the Village of Homewood. |

Our Facilities Family Life Center |
Our weekly worship service and many of our church-wide activities are held in a multi-purpose Family Life Center (FLC), constructed in 1993, and approximately 100’x65’. When used as a worship center, it can accommodate 600 people on padded chairs. It can also comfortably seat 350 people around tables. The FLC has an upper and lower stage at one end, with technical equipment in the balcony, a large kitchen, rest rooms, matching lobbies, and a regulation-sized basketball court on carpeted flooring. |
The new lower stage was built between 2005 -2006 to provide a more intimate feel for the speaker and to allow for double the stage area when staging other events. This stage can be easily rolled away underneath our main stage when the hall is being used for sports etc. Homewood Church truly has a multi function venue.

The FLC lobbies were completely redecorated in 2002 and create an inviting entrance into the church facility.

Chapel / Educational Building |
The chapel (former church sanctuary) was built in 1956, and is used weekly for Sonshine City Children’s Church. Pews were removed and the chapel was designated as multi-purpose space in 1997. |
It can accommodate up to 300 people when used as an auditorium for weddings, funerals, etc., and 175 people around tables for educational or banquet events. The chapel also houses our baptistery, and we are in the process of building a new baptistery in the FLC to bring baptisms into the Sunday service for the entire congregation to attend. The rear of the chapel building was constructed in 1964 for educational space, and today houses nursery/preschool facilities, a modern library, adult classrooms, and “The Loft” (the senior high meeting room). The lower level of the chapel/ educational building houses children’s classrooms, adult classrooms, the junior high meeting room, a small kitchen, and “The Hospitality Center” which can comfortably accommodate up to 50 people in chairs or around tables. The lower level of the chapel/ educational building is in the process of further remodeling to accommodate larger classes. As Homewood Church grows, so does it's facility.

Church Office Building |
The church and staff offices are housed in a building adjacent to the church facility in what used to be the senior pastor’s parsonage. This building, constructed in 1962, was completely remodeled from 1996-2001 to create several staff offices. It also contains two small conference rooms, copier/workroom and kitchenette, reception area, and a lower level meeting room that can accommodate up to 20 people.
